Welcome to Post #2 in the series, Filofax Organization
Today's topic is -
Setting up your Filofax
In the last post, we talked about choosing a Filofax. You can click on the link
here if you haven't seen it :)
Setting up your Filofax is the most important thing to do right after you purchase your Filofax. You want to create it your own dividers and make it your own!
Here are the steps!
1. Choose a diary layout! Find what you like, Find out how much you do per day - Ask yourself these questions:
- How much do I do per day?
- Do I write a lot and/or write big? Do I want a lot of page space?
- Do I want to diary inserts to be thick or thin? (meaning a lot of pages)
- Do I want a weekly insert and/or a monthly insert?
These questions are very important - because you don't want to choose a diary layout that you don't like and then spend the whole year with a set up you can't enjoy.

There are several diary inserts - Day Per Page, Day on Two Pages, Week per page, Week on Two pages.. They also come in cottom cream (which is a thicker type of paper and much softer) <-- Cotton Cream is definitely a recommendation if you write a lot or like to color code, and they also come in just the plain white.

They also have a monthly on two pages (above) if you love to see everything at a month on a glance. They also carry it a month on one page.
You can find all the diary inserts that Filofax carries
here and depending on the size of your Filofax, your inserts may vary.
2. Set up your Dividers or create your own!
Creating your own dividers can seem hard - but it's actually really easy. You can find some inspiration
here and you can also check on Philofaxy or Youtube on how to create your own dividers.
Setting up the dividers that Filofax sends with your organizer is easy too! Here are some ideas of what tabs you can create..
- Calender
- Finance
- Information
- Blog/Youtube
- Addresses
- Passwords (keep them encrypted though!)
You can create dividers for just about anything - the same way you can create a Filofax for just about anything! :)
3. Grab some essentials!
Pens are of course, a must! You can use different type of pens to color code and highlight whatever you want in your Filofax.

Grab some pretty notepaper for your writing notes or for anything you need to jot down! The Filofax paper is my favorite since it's colorful and you can fit a lot of information!
You can find all the organizer essentials that Filofax carries
here. They carry organizer stickers, and notepaper, hole punches, and even extra flyleaf's/pockets.
After your completed setting up your Filofax, you can finally decorate it!!! <- That's my favorite part!
Stay toon for Post #3 - Decorating your Filofax. I hope I helped you with your set-up! :)
Until next time!
